Bruno Venturim Trio: A Brazilian journey through the language of jazz

At the intersection of roots and freedom emerges the sound of the Bruno Venturim Trio — a celebration of Brazilian music through the lens of jazz. In this project, pianist and composer Bruno Venturim revisits the rhythms that shaped his musical path — such as samba, baião, frevo, and bossa nova — guiding the listener on a sonic journey that blends tradition with experimentation.

The classic jazz trio formation (piano, bass, and drums) becomes fertile ground for collective creation. Alongside André de Cayres (acoustic and electric bass) and Pablo Sáez (drums and percussion), Venturim crafts musical landscapes that drift between lyrical piano passages, the dance-like pulse of Afro-Brazilian rhythms, and the expressive freedom of improvisation.

Now based in Germany, Bruno marks a special moment in his artistic trajectory with this performance, celebrating 26 years of music and the 13th anniversary of his debut album Baião dos Ventos, to be celebrated in 2025. The repertoire also honors great Brazilian masters with whom he has collaborated, such as Hermeto Pascoal, Guinga, and Toninho Horta, reimagined through his own original arrangements.

More than a concert, this is an invitation to deep listening, to movement, and to connection through sound.
It is Brazil in trio form.

It is tradition and modernity in musical dialogue.

Duo Encontro!

"Encontro" is the name that marks the musical fusion between pianist Bruno Venturim and percussionist Robertinho Silva.

This special encounter took place in October 2017 and gives its name to the duo's concert, sealing an unexpected partnership in Brazilian music.

The legendary percussionist (who has shared the stage with stars such as Milton Nascimento, George Benson, Bud Shank, Egberto Gismonti, Tom Jobim, and Wayne Shorter) joins forces with a rising talent in instrumental music: pianist Bruno Venturim, who has released four original albums and has toured for concerts across Brazil, Europe, and Africa, collaborating with various artists such as Hermeto Pascoal, Toninho Horta, Guinga, among others.

“I’m truly enchanted by Bruno. He’s a great composer — very creative and tasteful,” says Robertinho Silva.
“We met a year ago and connected very well. We went into the studio and everything flowed in a very intuitive process. I brought in some finished songs, and we created others together, arranging as we went,” Bruno Venturim told G1 about the self-titled album, recorded in 2018.

The musicians come together to create a sonic landscape where tradition meets modernity, presenting original compositions seasoned with the flavor of improvisation.
From ancestral percussion instruments to the modern sounds of synthesizers, the stage becomes the moment where both musicians explore every possibility and texture within the vast world of drums and keys.

Bruno Venturim Piano solo

Between composition and reinterpretation: the piano as a living archive of sound

In his solo piano project, composer and pianist Bruno Venturim invites the listener into an intimate musical journey. Alone at the piano, he revisits key works from his own repertoire — including pieces like “Baião dos Ventos” and “Frevo do Maracujá” — allowing new colors and possibilities to emerge in each performance.

The concert is also a heartfelt tribute to the composers who have shaped his artistic vision. Through personal arrangements, Bruno reinterprets the music of Egberto Gismonti, Pixinguinha, Ernesto Nazareth, Toninho Horta, among others — weaving a tapestry of tradition and creative freedom.

Each piece becomes a point of departure — into memory, improvisation, and the spontaneous gesture. The full sonic range of the piano becomes a space of listening and reflection, where the architecture of composition meets the openness of the present moment.

This is a concert for those who find meaning in the silence between notes — where Brazil is reimagined through melody and harmony, in a dialogue that transcends borders.
A solo journey — yet never alone.
